We are doing it again!

So, if you need to know more about us, we suggest you check our website at www.equal-ground.org.  Now this may look like just another way for us to advertise ourselves, but the truth is: we would really like to hear from you!

In the wake of Mr. Singapore,  Lee Kuan Yew’s staggering comments regarding homosexuality, which goes something like this:  “If in fact it is true, and I have asked doctors this, that you are genetically born a homosexual – because that’s the nature of the genetic random transmission of genes – you can’t help it. So why should we criminalise it?” don’t you think Sri Lanka should just trash those old victorian laws and start afresh?

It is true…homosexuality is not something you dream of becoming, one fine day.  In fact if it were a choice we’d all choose to be non-gay and be less hassled than all you fine ‘straight’  people.  After all, who needs the discrimination, the stigma, the violence, the family pressure to get married etc etc etc.

The 17th of May is the International Day Against Homophobia – we are showing a movie on the brutal slaying of young, Gay student Mathew Shepherd in Laramie, Wyoming.

Also on the cards is our annual Gay PRIDE week from 20th-27th May.  Come and join us!  You’ll  be guarnateed a good time and also guaranteed is that you won’t ‘turn’ gay by just mingling with us!!

  1. Giddy Yup! good to see there’s somone in Sri Lanka that’s fighting for a very noble cause.

  2. Why is it that we gays are always associated with HIV.We are all not promiscuous and we all dont just sleep around.Afterall there are plenty of straight people whose sexual lifestyle is far worse.

  3. It’s great to see Equal Ground now have a site where we get to comment and praise you for all the grand work you’re doing. It looks Pride was a great event in Colombo this year. Hopefully me and the other half will be able to get over to Sri Lanka for one in the future!!
